Hello!
My name is Allie Siroky, PhD, LP a clinical child and adolescent psychologist licensed in the states of Minnesota and Ohio. My specialty and passion
is providing high-quality, integrative therapy
for children and teens (ages 2-18 years) with anxiety disorders.
My Experience
I earned my PhD in School Psychology in 2019 from Michigan State University. My research throughout graduate school has focused on evaluating and sharing science-backed treatment for children with anxiety, specifically Selective Mutism (SM).
Throughout graduate school (2013-2018), I received direct clinical training and supervision from experts in treatment for SM and anxiety-related disorders through Thriving Minds Behavioral Health in Michigan. For five summers, I served as a counselor and, later, a classroom teacher at Thriving Minds Confident Kids Camp, an intensive treatment camp for children with SM.
Prior to moving to Minneapolis, I worked as a licensed clinical child and adolescent psychologist at Nationwide Children’s Hospital (2018-2025) in Columbus, Ohio. In this role, I offered psychological testing and outpatient psychotherapy services for children, teens, and their families with a broad range of presenting concerns including anxiety, ADHD, disruptive behaviors, learning disabilities, developmental delays, trauma- and stressor-related concerns, and everything in between. I am currently licensed to practice psychologist in Ohio (License #P.08066) and Minnesota (License #LP7159). I also have the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) through the PSYPACT Commission, which allows me to see families in 40 states.
In my free time, I love spending time with my husband and our adorable pup, Peanut. We enjoy exercising together, reading, working on jigsaw puzzles, and trying new restaurants!
My Approach to Anxiety Treatment
As a psychologist, my practice is informed by decades of research on the most effective treatments for anxiety in children and adolescents. Research suggests that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the “gold standard” treatment for childhood anxiety disorders.
CBT emphasizes the connection between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By understanding this connection, we can learn coping skills to reduce anxious/worried thoughts, manage physical anxiety symptoms, and practice brave behaviors.
For younger children who are still learning how to think about their own thinking, anxiety treatment is more behavioral. This means that we work as a team (child, parent/caregiver, Dr. Allie) to plan for and practice brave behaviors - behaviors that help kids slowly encounter feared situations, with support and encouragement (i.e., gradual exposure practices).
Parents and caregivers are highly involved in treatment, too. I coach parents in ways to validate their child’s feelings, praise brave behaviors and mindsets, offer support during difficult times, and encourage children to approach - rather than avoid - anxiety-provoking situations.
To me, none of this work would be possible without a foundation of trust and optimism, which is where I begin treatment for every family. I will learn about your family culture and values, as well as the strengths and challenges you face on a daily basis. You can expect our work to be free of judgement or criticism. I will work hard to know the most important things about your family and your child, so I can individualize treatment in a way that works for you.
